Full Tilt Poker Review

I have been playing at Full Tilt poker since it launched in 2004 and it is quite remarkable how far the site has come. It is now the second largest online poker site in the world and is a railbird’s heaven, represented by Team Full Tilt (players such as Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen and many more).

As well as this they offer millions in guaranteed tournaments every week, have the highest stakes available online ($500/$1000), have fantastic software, and most recently introduced a new form of poker called Rush Poker which is exclusive to Full Tilt Poker. Full Tilt Poker also offers a 100% up to $600 welcome bonus, have a store where you can redeem your points, and a personal favourite of mine is the Full Tilt Poker Academy where you can learn from the pros and attempt various challenges.

Software

The Full Tilt Poker software is absolutely fantastic and in my opinion the best of any online poker room. Not only is it highly customisable allowing you to choose from various tables and backgrounds, as well as avatars, but you can even have your own avatar created by Full Tilt Poker if you save up enough points. The avatars are cartoon-like and unique to Full Tilt Poker, and you can even change your avatars expression which just adds to the fun. Currently the Full Tilt Poker software can support up to 18 tables and also has a mini-view which is resizable and shows everything clearly. There is also numerous other features such as a time bank, a ‘top-up’ option which refills your stack at cash tables when you go below a certain amount, and a hand replayer which you can access at the table in case you missed any of the action.

Game Variety

Full Tilt Poker offer a great selection of poker games and something that surprised me is the amount of action at almost every variation. Whether you just want to play Hold’em or if you want to try and play Razz, there are games running 24/7 at various stakes. As well as the standard games of Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Five Card Draw, and Razz, there is also a variety of Mixed Games available which are very popular amongst players including H.O.R.S.E, H.O.S.E and H/A. As well as this Full Tilt Poker recently introduced Rush Poker which sees you entered into a pool of other players at your chosen ring game limit, and after your action in every hand is finished you are moved to a new table with new opponents.

Tournaments

The tournament schedule at Full Tilt Poker is vast and caters for all types of players and buy-in levels. There is millions guaranteed at Full Tilt Poker every week with their biggest tournament the $750 Guarantee which takes place every Sunday and is changed to a $1 million Guarantee once every month. Other Sunday Majors include the Sunday Brawl and the Sunday Mulligan which have a combined guarantee of $550k. If you can’t afford to participate in these tournaments there are still lots of others including a personal favourite of mine – the Daily Dollar which has a guaranteed prize pool of $10k every day and pays over 1,000 players. As well as lots of freerolls and satellites to big online and live tournaments, Full Tilt also run their own online tournament series’ known as FTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) which offers millions of dollars guaranteed and each tournament is hosted by a Full Tilt Pro. There is also a Mini-Series for players who have a smaller bankroll and this has buy-ins 1/10th of the amount of the main series.

Soft Competition

A lot of people have the misconception that all the Full Tilt Poker games are tough because they see so many advertisements of the professionals. This is true is you are playing the high stakes games where the biggest blinds are $500/$1000, but at the micro and low stakes games the competition is very soft. Although it is not as easy as some other poker rooms, there are always lots of tables with high viewed-flop percentages and beginner players who will pay you off with virtually any two cards. The games get tougher from the $1/$2 games but with good table selection you will have no trouble finding fish at Full Tilt Poker.

Customer Support

Full Tilt Poker lack telephone and live chat support which is quite disappointing but they make up for this with fast e-mail response times and the support staff are always friendly and quick to sort any problems you have which is reassuring.
